| Veolia Environnement Wildlife Photographer of the Year |
The winners of the prestigious Wildlife Photographer Veolia Environnement of the Year 2011 competition were announced and will be exhibited at the Natural History Museum alongside other highly praised works.
Claiming the main prize was Daniel Beltrá Spain for Still Life Oil - an image of eight oil soaked pelicans taken from his series of six images Oil prices described by the jury foreman, Mark Carwardine as "a strong statement on the environment, technical perfection and a work of art all in one.”Oil prices also continued to collect wildlife photojournalist of the year for Beltrá.
Flying the flag of young photographers was Poland's Mateusz Piesiak whose image of a young oyster harass an adult for food earned him the title of Young Wildlife Photographer of the Year. Carwardine welcomed the image, saying, "This would make any professional proud - and doubly impressive for someone so young."
